IDG’s German LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2001 Names New Dates And Venue In Frankfurt

BOSTON, MA – JUNE 18, 2001 – International Data Group (IDG), the world's IT media and information services company, today announced that Germany's second LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will be held from Tuesday, October 30 – Thursday, November 1, 2001 in Hall 6 of the Frankfurt Exhibition Center. IDG World Expo Germany organizers announced these new dates and the selection of a new venue with a larger, more modern exposition space. During the same period, The European Banking System trade fair will also be held on the same Frankfurt fairgrounds.


Germany's LinuxWorld Conference & Expo established itself from its inception as the leading European summit for the Linux community. Over 11,000 visitors and 100 exhibitors participated in the European premiere event, held October 5-7, 2000 in Frankfurt, presenting new Open Source products and solutions. Last year's conference also featured prominent speakers such as Linus Torvalds, Jon Hall from Linux International, Bob Young from Red Hat, Dirk Hohndel from SuSe, and Arthur Tyde of Linuxcare.

Germany's LinuxWorld Conference & Expo is the first focused business-to-business event relating to the Linux operating system and Open Source in Europe. It provides a joint platform for members of the Linux development community as well as IT industry and business influencers.

IDG World Expo Germany, the event organizer, is expecting over 12,000 exposition visitors and approximately 500 conference visitors at the German LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2001. Around 130 participating companies are expected, with Over 40 percent of the exhibition space already reserved during the last German LinuxWorld Conference & Expo.
