IDG’s Internet Commerce Expo (ICe) Expands Internationally, Building On Success In U.S.

BOSTON, MA – APRIL 10, 2000 – Opening in Boston to a sold-out show floor with nearly 200 exhibitors, more than 50 new product announcements and standing room-only keynotes, International Data Group’s (IDG) Internet Commerce Expo (ICe) is now expanding its international presence with upcoming events planned for Germany, Taiwan, Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong and the Philippines. ICe is the U.S’s largest conference and exhibition focused exclusively on the tools, products and services designed for the B2B e-commerce industry.

"IDC forecasts B2B e-commerce worldwide growing from $97 billion in 1999 to more than $1.4 trillion by 2003, with e-commerce internationally growing at more than 100 percent for each of the next four years,” said Kelly Conlin, president and CEO, IDG. "The expansion of ICe globally will give companies targeting this burgeoning market the opportunity to reach influential buyers in key markets all over the world."

Europe’s first ICe event will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, September 19-21, 2000. In addition, “Komm 2000 – the e-congress” will run parallel to ICe and will focus on digital market management, online advertising, media finance and e-strategy. A first of its kind in Europe, ICe Germany anticipates 150 exhibitors and 10,000 e-business industry leaders and technology decision makers to attend. According to IDC, Internet users in Western Europe will grow to nearly 170 million in 2003, while e-commerce spending will grow to more than $430 billion in 2003. Unlike other e-commerce events, ICe Germany meets the specific needs of local companies looking for strategic, timely information on Internet technologies, new business models, budgetary factors and integration techniques for successful e-business solutions.

ICe Germany offers attendees special exhibitions, presentations and information stages including a jobs and careers center, a developer’s forum, the eTheatre – an applications-oriented session, and the Venture Capital Exchange – a forum catering to start-up companies looking for advice on how to take advantage of opportunities on the Internet.
