IDG’S ITworld.com Partners with Experts Exchange To Develop Expert Advice
BOSTON– 01/26/2000 — ITworld.com, International Data Group's (IDG) problem-solving network for IT professionals, to be launched in February, and Experts Exchange(TM), the number one knowledge sharing community on the Web, have agreed to jointly develop Expert Advice, integrating topic-specific technical and product support into the ITworld.com network.
"Research has shown that peer-generated content is highly regarded by IT professionals relative to other information available in the marketplace. By combining the respected editorial brands of IDG with peer-provided data from Experts Exchange, ITworld.com will be one step closer to fulfilling its mission as the IT problem-solving network(TM)" said Bill Reinstein, ITworld.com's President and CEO. "This partnership with Experts Exchange, along with other similar partnerships announced this month, will continue to enhance the value of ITworld.com in the eyes of enterprise IT professionals."
This private-label offering, powered by Experts Exchange, will be known as ITworld.com's Expert Advice. It will provide users access to the Experts Exchange community of qualified experts to answer all of their IT questions. Expert Advice will use the Experts Exchange's points system E-conomy(TM), a points-based incentive and grading system that allows its users to rate the quality of its experts' answers. Members grade the responses generated from experts answers, resulting in high-quality content.
Experts Exchange has more than 45,000 registered experts and more than 175,000 unique visitors to the site every month. More topics continue to be added to its current 80 areas, and on average, most questions are answered in less than one hour. With this partnership, ITworld.com's users will be able to enjoy the pre-established community that Experts Exchange has created.
"The advantage of this partnership is it offers pure content. As such, the site will be highly visible and accessible to all users," said Keith McCurdy, CEO of Experts Exchange. "Given the response rate of our 45,000 expert members, Expert Advice, will be an efficient, effective and highly relevant resource for IT professionals."
Concluded Reinstein, "The combined power of these strategic partnerships, the ITworld.com network of enterprise IT content and resources, and rich features such as ITnews will clearly position ITworld.com as the leading resource to the world of enterprise IT."
Including eight leading IDG Websites and drawing upon IDG 's global editorial team of 2,000 journalists and 400 research analysts, ITworld.com will provide the most complete dimensions of IT content, making it the most trusted problem-solving network for Enterprise IT Professionals.
