IDG’s ITworld.com Promotes Rich Mikita to Chief Operating Officer; New Role will Further Strengthen ITworld’s Leading Position in the Broadband Interactive Marketing Industry

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – APRIL 2, 2002 – ITworld.com, a business unit of IDG and an online publisher of news, educational content and broadband interactive media for the IT community, announced today the promotion of Rich Mikita to Chief Operating Officer. Mikita's responsibilities include product development, process and project management as well as the critical aspects of engineering and client services. His appointment underscores ITworld's continuing focus on developing deep, meaningful interactive content for IT professionals which in turn enables companies to obtain effective and measurable results from their web-based marketing initiatives.

 

As Chief Operating Officer, Mikita will further develop the ITwebcast Broadband Interactive Marketing Platform(TM) and the suite of services that support these programs. His expertise in statistical analysis of the ITworld audience as well as IT industry as a whole will ensure organizations have the information required to make well informed business decisions with respect to launching new IT products, training employees, communicating with their own global audience and streamlining communication efforts to ensure a better return on their investments.

ITworld products range from content-rich and highly interactive custom and multi-sponsored webcasts, to "off-the-shelf" webcast platform options, to more than 40 daily and weekly electronic newsletters, white paper sponsorships, and a variety of other performance-based marketing programs. Prior to this appointment, Mikita was senior vice president of research and strategic development for ITworld. He joined the ITworld team in August 1999 from the Meta Group where he was vice president of interactive publications. For most of the 12 previous years prior to joining the Meta Group, he was involved with the design and development of market research databases for various business units within IDG. He designed Computerworld's Buyers Database, conceived Computerworld's Market MindShare studies, and led an active research program in IT buyer and brand dynamics in a wide range of hardware and software markets. He also directed the development of computerworld.com, a leading source of news, perspective, and resources for enterprise IT professionals for nearly two years. Before joining Computerworld, he served as vice president of research at ITI, IDG's database unit, and as director of processor research at International Data Corporation, IDG's market research company.

Mikita holds a B.A. from Rutgers University, an M.A. from Indiana University, and has completed post-graduate work at U.C. Berkeley.
