IDG’s Network World Explores Gigabit Ethernet: Eight Town Meetings Scheduled

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – September 10, 1998 – Network World, the nation's leading weekly newspaper for enterprise computing, will be holding eight free events exploring one of most pressing issues facing Network IS professionals: bandwidth.

The programs will investigate the implementation of Gigabit Ethernet as one solution to increasing bandwidth in enterprise networks. The format for the events will be moderated Town Meetings with five of the nation's leading enterprise networking companies, The Tolly Group and Network World.

Kevin Tolly, president and CEO of The Tolly Group – a leading strategic consulting, independent testing, and industry analysis organization – will provide an overview of Gigabit Ethernet. Following Tolly, a panel of vendors — 3Com (COMS), Berkeley Networks, Compaq (CPQ), Lucent Technologies (LU), and Plaintree Systems (LANPF) – will address the factors driving the need for higher bandwidth and propose their own solutions for implementing Gigabit Ethernet. John Gallant, Network World's editor-in-chief, will moderate the day-long seminar.

"We have a unique and valuable format for our Town Meetings," said Bill Reinstein, senior vice president of business development for Network World. "The entire seminar is moderated by the best in the business. We not only have top network vendors presenting their technologies for implementing Gigabit Ethernet in the enterprise, but we also have independent analysis from the Tolly Group's president and CEO, Kevin Tolly, and from Network World's editor-in-chief, John Gallant. This is a powerful combination for delivering the best value to our readers."
