IDG’s Network World Fusion Face-Off Tackles “Server Switching: Are The Effects for Real?”

WHAT: In this Network World Fusion Face-off, industry executives will go head to head on the issue of server switching and its promised benefits. We'll get into the various server switch technologies developed by Alteon Networks, including extended packet sizes and Layer 4 switching. Participants will debate if it is brilliance or industry smoke.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Network World, the leading newsweekly of enterprise network computing, today announced the dates and topic for its next online debate in the Network World Fusion Face-off Series. The conference begins February 23, 1998 and will be open to online reader participation for two weeks. The topic of discussion for this Face-off is "Server switching: Are the benefits for real?"

Network World has invited industry executives Selina Lo of Alteon Networks and Bernard Daines of Packet Engines to debate this hot topic online, following the publication of their opinions in Network World on February 23. The opinions will be posted on Network World Fusion for the weeks of February 23 and March 2, during which readers may respond by asking questions and posting their own opinions.

The Face-off is available to registered Fusion subscribers, and readers may post specific questions to either or both of the authors for two weeks beginning Feb. 23. The authors will respond to reader feedback and questions beginning March 2.
