IDG’s Network World Honored By American Society Of Business Press Editors
SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – JUNE 30, 2000 – Network World, Inc., the Leader in Network Knowledge, was honored this month with 10 awards by the American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE) for its editorial and design excellence.
The editorial awards include two Gold National awards. Network World won "Best Online News Section/Newsletter" for its outstanding and timely coverage of the network industry. Network World Fusion's Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) database, one of its many searchable database of thousands of documents and articles, won for Original Online Database for its rich repository of information.
Network World's editorial staff also took home a Silver National award for Original Online Column by Fred McClimans titled "Keeping Current", and a Silver Regional award for Paul McNamara's popular "NetBuzz" column, a weekly column that explores the cultural issues and amusing nonsense that make the 'Net such a fascinating place to conduct business. In addition, Dave Kearns won a Bronze Regional award for Online News, an in-depth newsletter about the challenges using Microsoft products.
For design, Network World earned a National Silver award and a Regional Silver award for its front cover design of its Buzz Issue, one of Network World's popular Signature Series issues. And, Network World's design staff won two Silver Regional awards for Contents Page and Opening Page Design for the Power Issue, and a Bronze National award for Network World's publication redesign.

Editorial entries in the ASBPE Annual Competition for Editorial and Graphics Excellence were judged for writing quality, presentation, subject development and value to the reader by a panel of leading business trade press journalists. Graphics entries are judged by graphic designers and magazine artists from around the country based on composition, use of typographic and graphic elements, originality, and relevance to the story or publication. The Society's awards are extremely competitive, with the number of entries more than doubling in the past three years.
