IDG’s PCWorld.com Wins Maggie Award For Best Online Publication
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – APRIL 16, 2003 – At a ceremony held last week at the Folio: West Show, PCWorld.com was honored with two Maggie Awards from the Western Publications Association including “Best Online Publication.” In addition, the Web site won for “Best Online Publication Homepage Design” for the third straight year. "Congratulations to the editorial and design teams of PC World and PCWorld.com," praised Ramon "Bud" McLeod, editor of PCWorld.com and executive editor, news. "These awards acknowledge the hard work, dedication and team spirit that goes into all of our products. It is a great source of pride for our Web site to have been singled-out for editorial and design excellence."
The award for “Best Online Publication” recognizes PCWorld.com’s editorial mission of providing consumer-related reporting and advocacy, timely news of emerging products and trends, clear and concise product reviews, and expert guidance on making the most of hardware, software, and the Internet. Highly integrated with the print publication, PCWorld.com offers a wide range of content and broader choice of media. This is the fourth time PCWorld.com has won in this category.
PCWorld.com’s Maggie for “Best Online Publication Homepage Design” is testament to the superior presentation of editorial content, ease of use, and incorporation of photos and illustrations to emphasize the product focus of the site. Creative Director Robert Kanes, Associate Art Director Pierre Granier, and Associate Designer Diego Aguirre share responsibility for the daily look of the homepage.
In addition, PCWorld.com’s Product Finder recently won min’s Best of the Web Award for Application of E-commerce in the b2b category. The Best of the Web Awards demonstrate both the value of experience and the importance of brand integration in an increasingly fickle Web environment.
The 2003 Maggie Awards honored editorial, design and promotional excellence in magazine and electronic publishing in the Western United States. This year over 1,700 entries were received; PC World and PCWorld.com were finalists in 16 categories.
