International Data Corporation Cites Information Builders as the Software Vendor With the Highest Percentage Revenue Growth for End User Query/Reporting

NEW YORK – AUGUST 3, 2000 – Information Builders, a worldwide leading provider of business intelligence solutions, is being cited for its record growth in the end user query/reporting software market.

A recent report issued by the industry research and analyst firm IDC cited strong growth for the end user query/reporting software market and, in particular, for Information Builders' WebFOCUS product. (Information Access Tools: 2000 Worldwide Forecast and Analysis).

According to the report, the worldwide market for end user query and reporting software grew 27.8% in 1999 to $1.3 billion. In fact, Information Builders witnessed a 127.8% sales drive for its WebFOCUS solution — impressive numbers in a highly competitive product category. This growth represents increasing demand for Information Builders' WebFOCUS Business Intelligence solution, which IDC includes in the end-user query/reports category.

"The market is hungry for a Business Intelligence solution that delivers Web deployed reports and analysis from virtually any enterprise data source across most platforms," said Gerry Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders. "WebFOCUS is feeding that hunger, and we expect even greater strides in our growth in the years to come."

Mr. Cohen's growth projections are supported by IDC, which predicts that the query and reporting market will grow to $6.9 billion by 2004. IDC is attributing this growth to three major factors:

1. Increased number of end users: Further growth of intranets and extranets will drive internal and external end user demand for query and reporting solutions

2. New Channels: Increasing demand for Wireless Application Protocol(WAP) enabled query and reporting tools will spur further growth

3. Mergers and Acquisitions: This trend will continue as vendors build more complete suites of information access tools or move to integrate such tools into analytic applications.

"Business intelligence in the age of e-business is reaching more users, fueling demand for end user query/reporting software", said Henry Morris, VP for data warehousing and knowledge management at IDC. "The increasing demand for Information Builders WebFOCUS software is evidence of this trend."
