International Data Group Launches India Operations
BANGALORE, INDIA – February 8, 2005 – International Data Group (IDG) today announced that it has commenced the process of establishing a direct presence in India. When set up, IDG India will function as a full-service hub for IDG’s global publications, including the launch of a pioneering magazine on outsourcing targeted for distribution worldwide.
IDG has plans to invest around US$20 Million in India, and directly employ about 200 professionals over the next five years.
“India is becoming a major IT market. Its growing influence in the world IT market space makes a direct presence in India a natural and logical choice for IDG. The wealth of local talent and the growth of the Indian economy is expected to make IDG India a very significant part of IDG’s global operations,” said David Hill, President and CEO, International Publishing Services, IDG.
Already the fastest growing IT market, India is expected to be one of the world’s largest economies in the next two decades, according to analyst forecasts. The establishment of IDG India will enable the company to focus on the fast developing Indian economy and deliver up-to-date information to the rest of the world.
Given its global reach and access to content from around the world, IDG’s India operations will also raise the bar for technology publications in India. On receipt of approvals from the Government of India, IDG India will bring in a unique blend of print, online and interactive media to deliver world-class technology content and insight to the business and consumer markets.
