International Data Group Named One of Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For”

BOSTON, MA – JANUARY 15, 2004 – International Data Group (IDG) has been selected by FORTUNE magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” in its annual survey. The leading global technology media, research, and event company was the only media firm in the 2004 ranking. It is the fourth consecutive year that IDG has been recognized by FORTUNE.

FORTUNE noted IDG’s decentralized management style that allows departments to determine rewards such as bonuses and time off. Two-thirds of the total score for each company was based on an opinion survey randomly sent to employees.

Despite the difficult technology market the past few years, IDG has retained a position in the “100 Best Companies to Work For” since 2001. It was one of only two Massachusetts companies to be recognized in the 2004 report. In a PRWeek/Impulse Research survey of almost 200 CEOs last fall, 60 percent said the FORTUNE recognition was the most influential corporate reputation scorecard, the second highest among 15 selections.
