John Gallant Promoted to President/Editorial Director of Network World, Inc.; Two Industry Veterans Partner to Grow the Leading Networking Media Company

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – FEBRUARY. 14, 2001 – Network World, Inc. (NWI), the leader in network knowledge, today announced the promotion of John Gallant to President/Editorial Director reporting to Evilee Thibeault, the company's CEO and Publisher.

Gallant was most recently Executive Vice President/Editorial Director for Network World, Inc. With more than 17 years of experience covering the networking space, Gallant will continue to lead content development for all NWI products and services, as well as business development, audience development and operations for online and events.

Gallant joined International Data Group (IDG), parent company of Network World, Inc., in 1983 as a staff writer for Computerworld. Gallant helped launch Network World in 1986 as its Managing Editor and in 1988 was promoted to Editor-in-Chief. In 1991, he was promoted to Vice President, Editorial and in 1999 was promoted to Sr. Vice President/Editorial Director. Gallant was also named one of the most influential journalists in technology by MC magazine. Highly visible in the industry, Gallant is a frequent speaker at conferences such as ComNet, N+I and many others.

He developed the concept and continues to host presidential-style showdown debates at major trade conferences. Gallant's web cast series entitled "The Networked World" has quite a loyal following. He has served on the advisory boards of leading conferences such as NetWorld+Interop, Comdex, ComNet and the Internet Commerce Expo.

Gallant began his career as a correspondent at The Middlesex News in Framingham MA. He holds an M.A. in journalism from Boston University and a B.A. in economics from Boston College.
