LinuxWorld Expo and CRN Magazine Announce That The ”Linux in the Channel” Session at LinuxWorld San Francisco Now Closed Due to Overwhelming Response
FRAMINGHAM, MA – JULY 19, 2006 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, today announced the registration for the first-ever "Linux in the Channel" session, being led by CRN's editor, Heather Clancy, on August 16 at LinuxWorld San Francisco is now closed due to overwhelming interest. Systems integrators, value-added resellers (VARs), solution providers, IT distributors and vendors interested to learn more about Linux channel opportunities will be participating.
At the event, AMD, HP, Novell and Levanta will release the findings of the first major, objective study focusing on how solution providers are selling Linux solutions to mid-market customers. OSDL CEO, Stuart Cohen, will deliver opening remarks. CRN Editor in Chief, Heather Clancy will lead interactive panel discussions with leading distributors, resellers and integrators in the Linux channel, including CGI, Ingram Micro, Quail Technologies, rs-unix and Wild Open Source. The special event will conclude with a cocktail / networking mixer, sponsored by AMD, HP, Novell and Levanta.
"While enterprise Linux adoption trends are well-understood, what is not so well-understood today is how the channel is serving the mid-market customers with Linux and open source solutions," said Stuart Cohen, CEO of Open Source Development Labs (OSDL). "LinuxWorld and CRN have assembled a great roster of channel players and Linux vendors that can really open the dialogue and bring some clarity to where the channel ecosystem around Linux in the mid-market is headed."
Over the next month leading up to the LinuxWorld event, OSDL ( www.osdl.org ) will host a "Linux in the Channel" blog ( www.osdl.org/viewpoints ) that will feature channel-related perspectives from a collection of Linux systems integrators, VARs, distributors and vendors. For other members of the community that wish to weigh in on the evolution of Linux in the channel, please contact Jennifer@pageonepr.com for participation instructions.
