Macworld and Aspyr Media Co-Host 2nd Annual Bowling Event for Needy San Francisco School
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – JANUARY 4, 2002 – Macworld and Aspyr Media have announced the second annual Mac Bowl, a Macintosh industry event to support a San Francisco public school. For a $1,500 donation (in cash or equipment,) companies are sponsoring a team for an entertaining night of bowling. In addition to Macworld and Aspyr Media, supporters include Microsoft, MacSoft, ATI, Nvidia, GraphSims, Bold, MacPlay, Softline Distribution, Mac Home Journal and Power On Software.
Mac Bowl will be held at the Yerba Buena Bowling Center in San Francisco on Thursday, January 10, 2002, during the week of Macworld Conference and Expo.
The proceeds will be donated to Sheridan Elementary School, located on Capitol Avenue in San Francisco. The office of San Francisco¹s Unified School District worked with the organizers to select this school from among the most needy in the city.
"Through the generosity of the MacBowl participants, we are able to bring some of the latest technology to a group of San Francisco¹s underprivileged kids," stated Steve Plevin, Publisher of Macworld magazine. "The Macintosh community benefits tremendously from the education segment, and we¹re pleased to be able to return something to them."
