Macworld Announces Executive Promotions Stan Flack named VP & GM of Macworld Online; Andy Gore as VP of Content

SAN FRANCISCO, October 15, 1999- Colin Crawford, president and CEO of Mac Publishing, L.L.C., today appointed Stan Flack as the new Vice President and General Manager of Macworld Online, the number one independent Macintosh website. Flack, a native of Nova Scotia, Canada, was formerly founder and principal of MacCentral Online.

"Macworld continues to deliver the highest quality editorial content in both print and online. "Stan's expertise in developing a successful online business will help us maintain our leadership position while we take our web presence to the next level and beyond."

As VP& GM of Macworld Online, Flack will be responsible for both the strategic direction and future business development of the website. "Macworld Online has always been able to focus on the distinct needs of its audience and deliver what they*ve asked for. I am looking forward to adding to the momentum as we implement a new cross-site infrastructure and applications to ensure a superior online experience for both visitors and advertisers," Flack commented.

Additionally, Macworld Editor in Chief, Andy Gore was named Vice President of Content/Editor in Chief. In his new role Gore will be responsible for the development and management of content across the magazine and websites. "The Mac Publishing business serves a burgeoning print and online audience, and we are leveraging our editorial assets to fill the needs of both," said Gore. "This change in our management structure enables us to move swiftly and effectively, while providing the absolute best in editorial product."

Reporting into Gore, as editor of Macworld magazine will be Michael Penwarden, who will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of the publication. Jason Snell, formerly executive editor of Macworld magazine, has been promoted to editor of Macworld.com and will also report to Gore.
