Macworld Shepherds in The New Year With Product Announcements, New Event Features

Macworld Conference & Expo, San Francisco's largest annual technology event and the world's most comprehensive Macintosh OS event, takes place January 6-10, 2003 at The Moscone Center.

Intuit (booth 1817) will debut QuickBooks® Pro Edition 5.0 for Mac, which allows small business owners to create, customize and e-mail reports, statements and invoices, track expenses and organize their business finances – all in one place
I.R.I.S. (booth 545) will showcase its new Business Card Reader, the first card scanner for Macs where information from a scanned card is quickly and automatically transferred into your contact management database
M-Audio (booth 442) will announce Ozone, a complete personal mobile studio – featuring an all-in-one keyboard, MIDI control surface, mic preamp, USB audio interface and USB MIDI interface – that's no bigger than a laptop
Oki Data Americas, Inc. (booth 2149) will showcase three series of color printers for graphic arts and commercial printing professionals – the OKI C7000 Series Color Digital LED Printers, the OKI C9000 Series Color Digital LED Printers, and the OKI C5000 Series Digital Color Printers
REAL Software (booth 3261) will announce the latest version of REALbasic, the powerful, easy-to-use tool that allows users to create their own software for the Mac
Sonic Desktop Software (booth 2423) will demonstrate SmartSound® Movie Maestro, audio software that allows home video enthusiasts and educators to easily enhance visual projects with perfectly timed, customized music soundtracks
Sorenson Media (booth 2233) will debut three new video encoding products to meet the needs of both novice and professional content creators who want to encode and deliver high-quality video – Sorenson Squeeze 3 for MPEG-4, Sorenson Squeeze 3 Compression Suite, and Sorenson Squeeze 3 for Macromedia Flash MX
Macworld Conference & Expo attendees can also network with their peers and obtain valuable education at a wide variety of informative conference sessions, special events and forums. This year's event boasts a number of new features, including a special panel presentation with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7. "The Move to Mac OS X," hosted by MacTech Magazine Editor-in-Chief Dave Mark, will explore the reasons for upgrading to OS X and the environment for those with earlier versions of the Mac OS. In addition to Wozniak, the all-star panel will include noted Mac authors Bob LeVitus and Robin Williams, and MacTech Publisher Neil Ticktin.
Macworld will also introduce the all-new MacBrainiac Challenge, a game show-style event that pits two teams of Mac luminaries against one another in a quick-witted trivia contest. Two lucky volunteers will be chosen from the audience to join either the "Mad Dogcows" or "X.F.L." Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus will head up the Mad Dogcows, which will include Adam Engst, publisher of TidBITS and Ted Landau, MacFixIt founder, Macworld contributing editor and Mac OS X Disaster Relief author. Shawn King, founder and host of Your Mac Life, will do his best to ensure a victory for the X.F.L. team, which includes Christopher Breen, contributing editor at Macworld and Andy Ihnatko, Chicago Sun-Times and Macworld columnist. The MacBrainiac Challenge will take place on the North Hall Stage on Thursday, January 9 at 12:30 p.m.
The Hands-On MacLabs will also make their San Francisco debut at the upcoming event. These labs provide hands-on computer training for Mac users on topics ranging from PDF production to Flash 5 ActionScript to wireless networks. MacLab attendees are required to bring their laptops to these sessions, taught by trainers who are experts in their fields. The popular Power Tools Conferences will also feature six new topics this year, providing two days of intense training on the most popular Mac tools and applications.

Final Cut Pro User Group Film Theater: Attendees can watch films contributed by the various user groups and meet with the filmmakers that created them through a Filmmaker Talk Series in booth #3740.
Special Interest Areas: Attendees strolling this portion of the expo floor can interact with Mac developers showcasing products encompassing an array of categories ranging from digital media to enterprise solutions to wireless technologies.
