Manufacturing Insights Advises Intellectual Property Protection Will Require Creative Approaches
FRAMINGHAM, MA – FEBRUARY 15, 2007 – IDC's Manufacturing Insights reveals Intellectual Property Protection (IP) remains at serious risk when manufacturing in low cost regions. The Worldwide High-Tech Manufacturing Top 10 Predictions report, published by the research and advisory firm, acknowledges that there is no simple solution, but states a solution effort must be underway. Manufacturing Insights will present and elaborate on the IP prediction during a web conference today (February 15, 2007) at 1PM ET.
"Companies are spending millions in research and development dollars to be first or second to market with a new high-tech product," states Jay Holman, program manager for Manufacturing Insights. "It is easy and relatively cheap to be third or fourth to market, especially for manufacturers operating in regions with weak enforcement of intellectual property laws, such as China."
