Manufacturing Insights Broadens Research Coverage with Addition of Industry-Leading Analysts and Bi-Weekly Newsletter

FRAMINGHAM, MA – FEBRUARY 22, 2005 – Manufacturing Insights, an IDC Company, today announced the addition of four new research analysts and the inaugural issue of Theory and Practice, a bi-weekly newsletter designed to examine recent events and offer opinions on key trends affecting the manufacturing industry. These additions will accelerate Manufacturing Insights' ability to deliver fact-based research and analysis to key business and IT decision-makers in the manufacturing industry.

The four new Manufacturing Insights research analysts are:

Joe Baraki, Program Director, Product Development Strategies

Baraki has more than 20 years of industry experience in product management, marketing, and business development. As Program Director, his primary responsibility will be to guide the company's product development and product lifecycle strategies research, with a focus on the automotive, agricultural and construction equipment industries. Baraki and his team will provide the market benchmarks, best practices, and business cases, as well as a long-term vision for Product Lifecycle Management. Before joining Manufacturing Insights, Baraki was the founder of Diagnostic Strategies, a management and technology consulting practice that helped companies of all sizes develop product lifecycle and service lifecycle strategies.

Michael Witty, Program Director, Demand Management Strategies

Witty brings more than 20 years of industry experience working for and with companies to improve their value chain through the combination of technology and business best practices. As Program Director, Witty's primary role will be to lead the research in Demand Management, with a focus on the consumer packaged goods and retail industries. Michael and his team will provide the market benchmarks, best practices, and business cases, as well as a long-term vision for processes that enable a company to attract, sell, and serve customers. Most recently, Michael was Vice President of Professional Services at Syncra Systems, a supply chain collaboration solution provider. In this role, Michael had the opportunity to work with many of Syncra's customers and their trading partners in the design of their collaboration strategies and the deployment of their collaboration programs.

Ashley Gilliam, Consulting Director

Gilliam brings nearly 10 years of consulting experience with manufacturers, most recently with Accenture. Past clients include OceanSpray Cranberries, BankBoston, Nortel Networks, Lucent Technologies and EMC. Her key responsibilities will include working with manufacturing companies and IT vendors to provide custom research and consulting services to support their strategic IT and marketing needs. Gilliam will leverage her extensive research and consulting background to help Manufacturing Insights clients respond to business change and technology issues in the automotive, consumer goods, electronics, chemicals and aerospace industries.

Jay Holman, Senior Analyst, Manufacturing Metrics

With more than 6 years of experience, Holman was most recently with Celestica, where he worked as a program manager leading a cross-functional team responsible for the manufacture of early lifecycle, high tech products. As a senior analyst, Holman's responsibilities include conducting primary research to collect financial and operational performance benchmarking data for the manufacturing industry.
