SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – JUNE 22, 2001 – Network World, the leading network news publication for IT professionals, took home nine awards from the American Society of Business Press (ASBPE) for its editorial and design excellence.

Network World won both a Gold Regional and a Gold National award for "Best Feature Article" and "Best Single News article." The news article, "Web attackers run roughshod" won for its detailed account of the February 2000 Internet attacks on Ebay, Amazon, Yahoo and other Web icons. The feature article " The Omega Files" won for its in-depth coverage of the first federally prosecuted case of computer sabotage.

NWFusion (http://www.nwfusion.com), Network World's online news companion, earned a Silver National award for "Best Overall Web Publication" and two Bronze National awards for "Best Interactive Community", and "Original Web News Section" for its outstanding and timely coverage of the network industry. Network World Fusion has recently been recognized by Min Magazine for its seasoned editorial approach to B2B Web content and its innovative reference section that brings IT professionals quickly up to speed on more than 40 important industry topics.

Network World's editorial and design staff also won in the ASBPE Regional competition by taking home two Silver awards. Paul McNamara won again for his popular "NetBuzz" column and Design Director Rob Stave won for "Best Computer Generated Cover" of the Best Issue, a Network World special Signature Series Issue.

Editorial entries in the ASBPE Annual Competition for Editorial and Graphics Excellence were judged for writing quality, presentation, subject development and value to the reader by a panel of leading business trade press journalists. Graphics entries are judged by graphic designers and magazine artists from around the country based on composition, use of typographic and graphic elements, originality, and relevance to the story or publication.
