Network World Introduces NW iDemand

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – MAY 7, 2007 – Network World, Inc. today introduced the availability of NW iDemand, a next generation content delivery platform that allows users to customize and organize information right on their desktops. NW iDemand, which is beta-installed on nearly 5,000 subscriber desktops, has already received two innovation awards from the 2007 Web Marketing Association's Internet Advertising Competition (IAC). To view a demo of NW iDemand, visit .

The NW iDemand platform is free and simple to use. Once installed, subscribers' weekly e-ditions of Network World are automatically updated on the NW iDemand platform. Users click on the "read" button and the latest issue appears on their screens. Just like reading a print issue, subscribers can jump or page through the magazine. Directly from the screen, the e-dition allows readers to link to additional information, email articles, comment on articles, and interact with the issue's advertising. Readers may also archive issues and notate favorite issues for future reference.

In addition to the weekly Network World issue, NW iDemand automatically alerts readers to new content in specific areas of interest, such as security or storage. A reader selecting, say, the security channel would be notified via the NW iDemand player about new security articles, videos and podcasts available on and would be able to simply click from NW iDemand to the content, saving time in searching for new information and offering the flexibility to read, watch or listen to content when it is most convenient.

"People are clamoring to consume critical information on their terms, when, where, and how they please. The ability to customize and save content means users spend less time searching and more time using the information they need to do their jobs," said John Gallant, Network World, Inc's president and editorial director.

One NW iDemand subscriber wrote: "I like (iDemand) a lot – the formatting for my screen makes it easy to read ….. I wish all e-pubs would do it your way."

Award Winning Innovation

NW iDemand breaks the mold in more than content delivery. The platform also answers the tough question, "What is the value of print advertising?" Vendor ads that appear in the print version of Network World will also appear in the NW iDemand version of the magazine, bridging print and online marketing efforts. In addition, the digital version of the ad will be hyperlinked to each vendor's choice of product micro site, online demo, or company homepage, allowing readers to interact directly with the advertisement. Independent research shows that readers rely upon editorial and vendor information to make purchase decisions. The Network World e-dition seamlessly fuses readers with the information they need to make critical decisions.

"Our subscribers are the network and IT directors at medium and large-size companies directly responsible for architecting their networks to meet business strategy," said Evilee Ebb, CEO and publisher of Network World, Inc. "It's critical we get them the information they need in the most convenient and effective manner."

"Since I spend a lot of time in front of my computer, I really like this e-dition of Network World," said another Network World subscriber who recently switched to the NW iDemand format. "When I need to find information in the future, it will be easily found. …. Even the advertisements are indexed … Very good!"

In recognition of NW iDemand's innovative advertising capability, Network World received two 2007 Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) awards for Best Publishing Interactive Application and Best Magazine Interactive Application. Given by the Web Marketing Association, the award lauds NW iDemand for Outstanding Achievement in Internet Advertising. The Web Marketing Association's expert judges selected the product based on seven criteria: creativity, innovation, design, copywriting, use of medium, memorability, and impact.
