Network World Named Best Overall Trade Weekly By Computer Press Association

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – JUNE 27, 2000 – Network World, the Leader in Network Knowledge, was honored as the "Best Overall Trade Weekly," by the Computer Press Association in its 15th annual awards competition. Network World was also a runner-up in the "Best Print Product Review" for its Virtual Private Network Buyer's Guide package.

The Computer Press Awards recognize excellence in the coverage of computing issues in print, broadcast and online media. According to the Association, winning entries excelled in serving their readers with independent, authoritative, accurate and timely information. The competition is conducted by the Computer Press Association in cooperation with the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. A panel of veteran journalists and academics judged the entries based on: creativity, presentation, clarity, significance to the target audience, authority, timeliness, completeness and overall fluidity.

In announcing the award of "Best Overall Trade Weekly", the CPA said of Network World: "This publication really understands and serves its specific audience, providing the kind of complete, quality coverage of these topics that won't be found elsewhere. It's a complete, must-read publication for people in its industry."

"That accolade is particularly gratifying because it meshes with the publication's mission," says Editor-in-Chief John Dix. "We strive to be the source of network knowledge and being recognized as a 'must read' is a huge validation for us. Our editorial team is extremely proud to accept this award."

The Computer Press Awards are just the latest in a string of editorial accolades for Network World. Earlier this week, Network World won five national – in addition to five regional – awards from the American Society of Business Press Editors. The publication also earned the distinction of "Top Network Book" and Network World's John Gallant was named one of the top 15 most influential trade journalists from MC Magazine.
