New Products Set Stage for Macworld Opening; Scores of Companies Expected to Feature Their Newest Products, Including Lacie, Filemaker, Fujitsu, Micromat, SecureMac.com, DLO and Many Others
FRAMINGHAM, MA – JANUARY 6, 2006 – IDG World Expo today announced that scores of companies are expected to debut or feature a wide range of new products at Macworld Conference & Expo(R) January 9-13, 2006 at San Francisco's Moscone Center. Highlighted announcements, among the many new products expected to be launched or featured at Macworld, include the following:
LaCie (booth 2143) announced on Jan. 4 that it will release six new products during Macworld: Little Big Disk; Rugged Hard Drive; Skwarim; Two Big; Mini Hard Drive & Hub; LaCie Slim DVD+/-RW. The new product line consists of five new external hard disk drive systems and one new external DVD +/-RW drive. All are Mac and PC compatible.
FileMaker, Inc. (booth 817) FileMaker announced on Jan. 4 the immediate availability of FileMaker Server 8 Advanced. Advanced extends beyond the networking features of File Maker Server 8, adding rapid web deployment tools, custom integration with internal and external web sites, and data source links through ODBC, JDBC, and XML.
Belkin Corp. (booth 717) on Jan. 3 introduced its CableFree USB Hub, which provides wireless connectivity between a computer and any USB peripherals. Belkin plans to show off the new device at next week's Macworld.
Micromat Inc. (booth 2123) introduced TechTool Protege on Jan. 4. It is a new Mac OS X troubleshooting and diagnostic tool stored on a bootable 1GB Firewire-based flash drive. TechTool Protege is shipping now but will make its public debut at next week's Macworld.
Fujitsu Computer Products of America (booth 517) Hands-on product demonstrations of its new ScanSnap(TM) fi-5110EOXM scanning solution will be given at Macworld. The Fujitsu ScanSnap, a Macworld 2005 Editors' Choice (Eddy) Award winner in the "Breakthrough Products" category and recipient of a MacDirectory five-star review rating, is the only single-pass duplex automatic document feeding (ADF) scanner available today that addresses the Mac community's document imaging needs.
NovaMind Software (booth 2432) announced on Jan. 5 the upcoming release of the new NovaMind 3, which will be showcased at Macworld next week. NovaMind is designed to conduct and record the outcomes of brainstorming sessions, allowing workgroups or teams to generate ideas for marketing, KPI's, goals and problem resolution.
Small Tree Communications (booth 2411) on Jan. 4 announced BlazeFS, a new file sharing system. BlazeFS is a new high-performance file system designed to work with Macs equipped with Gigabit Ethernet and 10Gb Ethernet networking interfaces, such as those Small Tree sells for the Mac.
SecureMac.com (booth 950) will be presenting the company's latest security product, MacScan 2.0 at Macworld. This second generation of MacScan is designed to shield computers running Mac OS X in both regular and classic environments from spyware. SecureMac released the original version in 2002 for Mac OS 9; it was the first software of its kind available for the Macintosh.
Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) (Booth 425): DLO's recently released HomeDock will be on display at Macworld. It includes everything you need to play your iPod's music, pictures and videos on your home stereo and TV. Enjoy room filling sound and big screen video from your iPod. Control everything from across the room with HomeDock's 14-function emote, while charging your iPod with the included AC plug.
Eleksen Limited (booth 239) will be showing a newly released iPod case that has player controls built right into the fabric. The case, as well as bags and backpacks by Goodhope, use Eleksen's ElekTex smart fabric.
EMC Dantz (Booth 607) The recently released Retrospect 6.1 for Macintosh Business Editions is designed to deliver automated, reliable, cost-effective protection for small and medium businesses (SMBs); Retrospect 6.1 for Macintosh Home and Home Office Editions is for home and home office computers designed to make it easy to protect your data and computer systems.
iPort (booth 2329) The all new free standing iPort FS adds to the iPort family with a new stylish design and new innovative features. With volume control at the iPort or switching from streaming music to syncing with iTunes at the push of a button, the new iPort FS makes even easier to share your music.
TOLIS Group, Inc. (booth 2635) Released on Dec. 15, BRU Server 1.2 for Mac OS X is a client/server-based backup solution whose human interface design was influenced by input from hundreds of experienced Macintosh users.
