New York City Hosts Linuxworld Conference & Expo Featuring Linus Torvalds And The “Linux Showdown”
Framingham, Mass. – October 18, 1999 – IDG World Expo today announced its feature presentation and line-up of keynote speakers for the first East Coast LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. The event will take place February 1 – 4, 2000 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. LinuxWorld Conference & Expo is the premiere event for supporters, investors and enthusiasts of the Linux operating system.

Headlining the event is Linux creator Linus Torvalds. Torvalds will provide insight into the latest innovations for the fastest growing operating system on the market at a keynote event, Wednesday, February 2, 9:30- 10:30 AM. Also delivering a keynote address is Larry Augustin, founder, president and chief executive officer of VA Linux Systems. Augustin will speak on Thursday, February 3 from 10:45 AM – 11:45 AM. Steven Mills, general manager, IBM Software Solutions, will put the Linux phenomenon in perspective by focusing on Linux technology in the computing industry on Thursday, February 3, 2:30 – 3:30 PM.
John Gallant, Vice President and Editorial Director, Network World will moderate the feature presentation, "Network World's Linux Showdown" on Wednesday, February 2, 4:15 – 5:30 PM. In this presidential style debate, Gallant will challenge the leading commercial Linux providers to field questions from a panel of experts, each other and the audience in a no-holds-barred session. Greco added, "LinuxWorld Conference & Expo continues to be the premiere event for exploring hot issues and technology innovations in the Linux industry."
