OpenSource World, Next Generation Data Center and CloudWorld Announce Additional Keynotes for Next Week’s Conferences ; Dell Inc. and Robert “r0ml” Lefkowitz to Deliver Keynote Addresses on Improving Enterprise IT

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – August 4, 2009 – Dell Inc. will deliver the opening keynote address on Wednesday, August 12, and Robert "r0ml" Lefkowitz will deliver a keynote address, on Thursday, August 13, at the 2009 OpenSource World™, Next Generation Data Center™ (NGDC™) and CloudWorld™ conferences, IDG World Expo, producer of the events, announced today. OpenSource World (formerly LinuxWorld®), NGDC and CloudWorld are scheduled to take place next week, August 12-13, 2009, at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco.

In the opening keynote entitled “Building on Efficient Enterprise”, Dell will address the challenges that today’s businesses face when it comes to cloud computing and open source technologies, as well as how companies can determine if these technologies are right for them. The keynote, scheduled for 8:15 a.m. PT on August 12, will also cover how these transformational technologies enable IT to be more efficient and responsive to business needs.

On Thursday at 11:15 a.m. PT, Robert Lefkowitz will present “IT as a Software Deli,” a discussion of how corporate IT departments have come to think of themselves as large, labor and capital-intensive "software factories." However, today’s advances in open source technology enable companies to build out sophisticated information technology applications more quickly and cost effectively. Lefkowitz will explain how large corporate IT departments, when equipped with these tools, can act less like a factory and more like a deli where customer orders are filled quickly and at lower cost, even if it involves a bit of customization. Robert is Vice President of Technology Research and Development at Asurion and has extensive experience acting as a catalyst for information technology innovation adoption in the nuclear power, financial services, airline and wireless telephony industries.

“The success of cloud computing depends on a solid software infrastructure, including the open source drivers and kernel patches that Dell has contributed,” said Don Marti, chairman of OpenSource World. “Robert has been a long-time advocate of open source technology and making software available to end-users. We are excited to have both Dell and Robert share their insights into making cloud computing and open source a reality in today’s enterprise.”

These keynote addresses will complete the 2009 keynote speaker list which includes the following.
