Program Committee Announced For Next Generation Data Center Conference & Expo

FRAMINGHAM, MA – FEBRUARY 28, 2007 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events around the globe, has announced the appointment of seven individuals to the Next Generation Data Center Conference & Expo (NGDC) Program Committee, representing companies including Intel, Microsoft, Network World, Nemertes Research, Robert Frances Group and others. NGDC is scheduled to debut August 7-9, 2007 at the Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco, CA. The event focuses on new technologies and their impact on the data center, covering mission-critical applications and the technology supporting those applications including storage, servers, networking and communications. The Call For Papers deadline is Saturday, March 3rd and proposals can be submitted through the NGDC web site.

"In an era of rapid business change and technology innovation, data center managers are being pulled in two directions simultaneously," said Jerald Murphy, Director of Research for Robert Frances Group. "On the one hand, new technologies such as service-oriented architectures (SOAs) and virtualization provide data centers with more flexibility. On the other hand, increased security threats, power and cooling overloading, and cost constraints are making it more difficult for data center managers to effectively manage these assets. The NGDC conference is designed to look at these trends and help data center managers anticipate the direction of these changes and proactively help them prepare for change as opposed to react to it."

Members of the Program Committee include:

— Andreas M. Antonopoulos, Senior Vice President and Founding Partner, Nemertes Research

— James Hall, President, Blade Systems Alliance

— Jerald Murphy, Senior Vice President and Director of Research for Robert Frances Group

— Greg Nawrocki, Globus Consortium

— Michael Peterson, President, Strategic Research Corporation

— Beth Schultz, Editor, Network World

— Ravi Subramaniam, Principal Engineer, Digital Enterprise Group, End-User Platform Integration, Intel Corporation

— SW Worth, Sr. Program Manager, Enterprise Management and Storage Division, Microsoft

"For the past few years, in our New Data Center series, Network World has been delving into the technology, management and business issues network/IT professionals face as they create their next-generation IT infrastructures," said Beth Schultz, editor, Network World's New Data Center series. "It's exciting to see IDG World Expo champion the same transformative message in its new Next Generation Data Center conference, and I look forward to helping further educate network/IT professionals as they strategize how best to embrace this new world."

The new event is targeted to data center professionals ranging, from IT architects to system administrators, seeking the right products and services to add to their end-to-end solutions as they adapt to ever increasing needs for flexibility, scalability and performance. The event will feature presentations by leading technology experts and innovative IT executives who will address what is happening in the data center today and what's likely to happen next. Multiple tracks will provide attendees with a full spectrum of best practices and emerging trends across key topic areas including SOA, virtualization, grid, security, application optimization, information life cycle management, automation, compliance, VOIP and network management.
