Robert Reich, Former Secretary of Labor, to Keynote the IDC Outsourcing Forum East in April

FRAMINGHAM, MA – January 27, 2005 – IDC today announced that Robert Reich, Economist, Professor, Author and Former Secretary of Labor, will be the keynote presenter at the IDC Outsourcing Forum East, to be held April 18-19, 2005 at the Westin New York at Times Square in New York City.

Reich is University Professor and Maurice B. Hexter Professor of Social and Economic Policy at Brandeis University and at Brandeis's Heller School of Social Policy and Management. He has served in three national administrations, most recently as Secretary of Labor under President Clinton. Under Reich's leadership, the Labor Department moved forward on several path-breaking initiatives to build the skills of American workers, cracked down on unsafe worksites, and on fraudulent purveyors of pensions and health insurance, and began a national initiative to abolish sweatshops. He also oversaw the enactment of the Retirement Protection Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act, as well as the first increase in the minimum wage since 1989. A well-known author, commentator, columnist, and speaker, Reich will bring his wealth of industry insight and knowledge to his keynote address at this year's Forum.

The IDC Outsourcing Forum East: Achieving Business Transformation Through Strategic BPO is designed to help senior executives evaluate the potential that Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) can deliver not only to their bottom line, but in driving transformational change – taking their business to the next level. Building on the success of IDC's first Outsouring Forum in 2004, IDC has expanded the forum to a two-track event focused on overall BPO Strategy and BPO for Financial Services.

— The BPO Strategy Track will explore specific functional segments of BPO (including HR, F&A, procurement, and customer care) as well as more "macro" BPO issues, including strategic partnerships, multi-functional engagements, metrics, and global sourcing.

— The BPO for Financial Services Track will explore BPO within Insurance, Banking, Collections, and Payment Services, in addition to addressing strategic BPO challenges specific to Financial Services around sustaining corporate brand, compliance, and the management of personal information.

Featuring case studies and real-world perspectives from end-user executives, IDC analysts, and industry experts, Reich is among a stellar line-up of speakers including executives from Alfa Mutual Insurance Company, Capgemini, CIBC, Convergys, Credit Suisse First Boston, CSC, Deutsche Bank, Fifth Third Bancorp, Financial Insights, First Carolina Care, Hydro One Networks, IBM, Milbank Tweed, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, Provident Bank, TPI, and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
