Tom Brokaw To Kick Off 23rd Annual Comnet Conference & Expo
FRAMINGHAM, MA – JANUARY 17, 2001 – COMNET Conference & Expo, the premier event for companies building business value through intelligent networks, announced today that Tom Brokaw, anchor and managing editor of NBC’s nightly news broadcast, will deliver the keynote speech to open this largest annual technology event in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Brokaw has traveled worldwide to cover elections, summits and major news events since 1974. His broadcasts are known for their in-depth analysis of important economic, political, and social issues. An acclaimed political reporter, he has covered every U.S. presidential election for NBC since 1968.
He is anchor of InterNight, a one-hour prime-time talk and interview show on MSNBC, and has also played an active role in many NBC News prime-time specials on a wide range of topics, including an extensive interview with Microsoft mogul Bill Gates. A nationally acclaimed author, Mr. Brokaw wrote one of the best-selling books in 1998, The Greatest Generation, which honors those from the Great Depression and WWII who went on to build modern America.
Mr. Brokaw joins two executives of leading telecommunications/networking companies, who also will address COMNET attendees. Clarence J. Chandran, chief operating officer of Nortel Networks Corporation, will speak on January 31, and Dennis F. Strigl, president and chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless, will speak on February 1.
