Walter Manninen Named CEO of IDG’s CXO Media

FRAMINGHAM, MA – FEBRUARY 13, 2004 – IDG's CXO Media (publisher of CIO and CSO magazines) today announces the appointment of Walter Manninen to CEO of CXO Media. Manninen, a 12-year veteran of International Data Group (IDG), was appointed President in September 2002 and now serves as President and CEO.

"In the past 17 months, Walter has done an exceptional job guiding CXO Media through a difficult economy," says Pat Kenealy, CEO of IDG. "Under Walter's leadership, the business unit has maintained the quality and frequency of its magazines and conference schedules. In addition, CXO Media's 2003 results were excellent and 2004 looks even better."

Manninen joined CXO Media in 1991 and served as executive vice president of finance and operations before being named president 17 months ago. During his tenure, Manninen has overseen six major expansions, presided over an increase in staff from 30 to 136, created new departments, such as the Information Systems division, and served as an early advocate of CXO Media's vibrant Web presence.

Prior to entering the information industry, Manninen worked in commercial banking for 10 years in various senior management positions, including treasurer, comptroller and vice president. He also served on the Board of Security for the Massachusetts Banking Association.
