FRAMINGHAM, MASS., — FEBRUARY 22, 2000 — IDG World Expo (, the world’s leading producer of IT-focused conferences and expositions, today announced the results from the Windows 2000 Conference & Expo, the world’s first-and-only event solely dedicated to the full line of Windows 2000 products and services. Nearly 20,000 people attended the inaugural event, which was held at San Francisco’s Moscone Center from February 15th- February 17th.

The event featured keynote presentations by three of the most influential technology visionaries of this era. Microsoft’s Bill Gates officially launched Windows 2000 at the event on Thursday with a star-studded production that included Star Trek’s Patrick Stewart, John O’Hurley of Seinfeld fame, and rock-legend Carlos Santana. Dell Chairman Michael Dell officially kicked off the event Tuesday morning and the first major outing for new Compaq CEO Michael Capellas was on Tuesday evening.

"The Windows 2000 Conference & Expo was a tremendous success from all perspectives," said Charlie Greco, president and CEO of IDG World Expo. "With the most compelling combination of IT industry speakers ever assembled, the launch of the most anticipated product in years, 19,184 attendees across three days, more than 700 registered members of the media representing local, national and international outlets, and more than 200 exhibitors — this show clearly is the pinnacle of the technology tradeshow season.
