Wireless Sensing Solutions Event Kicks off Next Week in Chicago; Conference to explore recent successful deployments of wireless sensor networking

FRAMINGHAM, MA – SEPTEMBER 22, 2005 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for IT markets, today gave a preview of next week's Wireless Sensing Solutions(R), which will take place September 26-28 at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza. Event highlights include case studies of the recent successful deployments of wireless sensor networking, keynotes from industry leaders, a venture capital forum, a showcase of the leading companies and associations in the industry and new product introductions.

Exhibitors and Sponsors

Exhibitors and sponsors at the event are the leaders of the wireless sensor network industry, including: the Zigbee Alliance, WINA (Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance), SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers), Sensor Network Consortium (SNC), Chipcon, Coronis Systems, Crossbow Technology, Dust Networks, Embedded Research Solutions (ERS), EnOcean, Firefly Power Technologies LLC, Freescale Semiconductor, Inetco, Innovative Wireless Technologies (IWT), Integration Associates, Luxoft Labs, MachineTalker Inc., Mesh Systems, Millennial Net, NIVIS LLC, Newtrax Technologies, Sensicast Systems, Smarthome, Wellspring Acquisitions.

Venture Forum

The Venture Forum, hosted by Ernst & Young and IDG Ventures Boston, will take place on September 27 and will introduce the hottest players in the wireless sensing market. In addition, several of the leading venture capitalists, advisors and representatives from wireless sensing companies will provide an overview of VC funding activity in the wireless sector; address the current landscape for wireless sensing solutions; offer advice on partnering and creating alliances with larger OEMs and systems integrators; and discuss what the leading investors in the wireless space are thinking about and looking for from prospective investments in the wireless sensing solutions space.

The conference program features two days packed with useful and relevant sessions divided among three tracks: The Technology Solutions Track focuses on how wireless sensing works and explores the benefits that it offers. The Systems Integration & Development Track examines how wireless sensors and mesh networks can be implemented and incorporated into new or existing legacy infrastructures. The Wireless Sensing in Action Track is comprised exclusively of real-world case studies that detail the decision and technology paths taken by leading companies to enhance their market position and sharpen their competitive stance through the use of wireless sensor networks and remote sensing solutions.

SeeByte board member, David Farquhar will deliver a keynote address titled, "Intelligent Sensing, Collective Reasoning and the Revolution in Smart Sensing Environments." Harvard University professor of computer science, Matt Welsh, will deliver a keynote speech titled, "Wireless Sensing Networks, Intelligent Programming and the Evolution of Real-Time Query Systems." At the end of the conference, a roundtable forum will bring together respected industry experts and analysts to review the highlights of Wireless Sensing Solutions 2005 and discuss the most important issues presented during the conference.

New Product Previews

Several new products will be introduced at the event. Here is a sneak peek at some of those new products:

Luxoft Labs is going to present its MeshNetics(TM) InfoView integration platform. The InfoView software allows seamless integration of the wireless sensor networks with the various enterprise applications, such as data acquisition systems and GIS (Geographic Information Systems), with no additional programming needed. Thanks to its OPC (OLE for Process Control) server, InfoView easily connects SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) with the wireless sensor network, achieving system's interoperability and scalability. The key functionality of the MeshNetics(TM) wireless sensor network is the rule-based data pre-processing, performed on the nodes, which optimizes data traffic and reduces power consumption.

Newtrax Technologies Inc. has developed a new multihop wireless mesh networking technology based on low data rate Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS), which offers a superior range/power ratio, more robust RF links and better scalability than Zigbee/802.15.4. Benefits include: a) low costs for configuration, installation and maintenance of both communication and power supply networks b) remote monitoring of sensors and control of actuators in environments where wires are not an option c) reduction of system downtimes caused by faulty wire connectors or connections. The company offers system integrators an OEM platform to build intelligent wireless sensor and actuator systems.
